Reflective log and communicative skills

Reflective log:

Many skills were improved during this course, one of the the most important skills is being able to establish an efficient meeting with clear agenda to save time for all participant ,also I learned how to give a descent  presentation with strong ideas and how to deliver it to the audience in an exciting way. Simply makes the audience believe in my ideas and my thoughts.

The only thing I would change in my presentation is my gesture .In fact I didn’t use any so I should learn how to use it during the presentation in wise way so it helps to to explain my ideas more.

Communicative Skills:

There are many benefit I gained from this course, I’m more confident now I can discuss any idea about any subject, also I can sell it to the audiences and make them excited about my subject.

I learned how to keep an eye contact to the audience not only to the individual person but the whole group.

Those skills I can use in different aspects in my life such as work interview I will be more confident and I will be able to sell out my C.V .another area in case I got an administration job I should be able to establish an efficient meeting with clear agenda follows that a clear report.

Regardless of all these skills I need to practice more and use my English speaking skill which will help me eventually. 

Formal presentation report

On the 22^nd of May I attended a presentation in T005 by Mr. Moaath (H00161058) at 14:20

Mr. Moaath was explaining to the audience some of the solutions for ocean pollution specially the area where human id involve Its was a quite short presentation which took 5 minutes to complete .During the presentation I noticed Mr. Moaath vocal were low. also he were so nervous and worry but he managed to control the speech after he felt comfortable, despite all that I think he is improving his presentation skills but he needs to practice more .

The eyes contact was present but he didn’t attract the audience by an exciting question or an exciting story in the beginning. After all I compared both presentation (Semi and Formal). I’m sure that Moaath is working in the right path in presentation wise

Semi-Formal Presentation Summary,

On 24^th of April, I and my group had to make a presentation about the advantages and disadvantages of two different browsers, internet explorer 8 and safari. The presentation was held in the ADMC T005 room and our group was consisted of Abdullah hamoudi, Abdulaziz Al Ali, Moaz, Fares and me, Ahmed Baniyas.

I would like here to describe Abdullah's attitude during his part of the presentation. He started his presentation greeting the audience and wished them taking fully benefits from the topic. Most of the time, he had both his hands behind him, so there wasn't much glisters. He was making eye contact with audience frequently and made them connected to the topic. The information was delivered by Abdullah in an easy way, simple and in sequence. He spoke in a good tone and the voice was clear.

The slides of power point however were few, and weren't supporting the points he was presenting. Handing over the presentation to his colleague was nice and fluent.

In my view he did his part of the presentation in an extraordinarily way, it was obvious how much he trained himself and put effort to make it that good.

Minutes:

1.    Welcome, Attendance, Note Taker

·         Meeting started at 16:00

2.    Students get bored during their stay in ADMC:

·         Arranging picnics.

·         Increasing sports events

3.    Feeling homesick:

·         Taking part in social activities such as helping in elderly home

·         Taking part in social activities such as helping in nurse home

·         Building accommodation with friendly atmosphere.

4.    Lack of motivation:

·         coordinating community groups

5.    Encouragement of bonding and relationship:

·         Arranging welcoming party

·         Organizing sports competition

6.    A quick review for :

·         Everyone was clear about the suggestions and our recommendations after the note taker reviewed it.

7.    Action Plan :

·         The Note Taker shall take our suggestions and give it to Students Academic Service Manager Mr. Khalid Abdullah for implementation.

Meeting report:

Today’s meeting was held at 16:00 and concluded at 16:20 on the 17^th of March 2011. The ADMC Room W113 was the location for this forum. All principle members were present to include the Chair/Lead Mr. Abdulla Al Homoudi, Minutes Keeper: Mr. Abdulaziz Al Ali and fellow board members Mr. Ahmed Sayed, Mr. Fares Al Shamsi, and Mr. Moaath. The major topics of this discussion were the effects of College Life on our young students who are away from home. During our discussion our first issue was how to keep students from getting bored while staying at the ADMC. We came up with several ways to help the students in this area; one way would be by going out on picnics and having more sporting events which would help build togetherness and strong friendship bonds. Our second issue was that some students felt homesick. We also came up with several good ideas to help students overcome this feeling which were; Volunteering in elderly homes. Make building accommodations friendlier. Third on our agenda was the lack of motivation; We realized that by making starting community groups the students would be able to get involved in many different activities away from the ADMC. Last on our list was finding a way to help build relationships between students and getting them to bond as a team. We agreed that by welcoming new personnel with a party when they arrive would help get over nervousness and to relax new personnel, we also added that by competing in sports as teams this would help grow the bonds of friendship and teamwork we are after. In addition our ideas and suggestions will be sent to the student academic service manager Mr. Khalid Abdullah next meeting will be held on 27^th of March 2011 if there is any delay or information regarding the meeting all members will receive an email with all the details. Finally the meeting was useful and went well, all members were participating in a wise way and useful way. After all we met our objectives by finding suitable ideas which hopefully will be implemented soon.

Meeting (student life)

the meeting of student life was held by the TC group in the ADMC room w113 on 17th of March 2011. I was a member of this meeting which started at 16:00 and took half an hour to finish. the group prepared fairly well by getting together twice and review all points related to the subject. the agenda was spread early to the members to have enough time thinking and finding solutions. my performance in my first meeting was fairly good. i added some significant points to the meeting which helped the group finding solutions. all members were satisfied with my performance. the discussion was so quit and relaxing which effected the meeting possitevely. the points of the agenda were clear and everybody had the chance to give opinions and participated actively. it went smoothly.
feedback was distributed amoung the group, long dialoges and low tune of voice was my difficulties in the meeting. this will help me alot in the next meeting. for better meeting in future, more realistic suggestions should be discussed and the subject should be learnt from diffrent aspects.

About me

My name is Ahmed Sayed, Im 31 years old i was born in Sharjah, I completed my secondary school in 1998 with an avreage of 85% .I got my Diploma from Northbrook Collage in United Kingdom in 2001.
I got married in 2003 and i have 3 childrens the oldest is 7 years old and the youngest is 1.5 years old.
I like playing football and watching football matches in my free time ,In addition i like making friends and travelling
My aim in my life is to get my PHD in Engineering Technology.also to be a productive element in the engineering field .


Difficulties of Presenting:
There are some difficulties which may face a presenter, such as
1) Feeling unconfident infront of audience.
2) Getting audience attention.
3) Time managment.
4) Gusters management.
5) Organizing ideas.
6) Eye contact management.
